India Youth Icon - A changed definition

I was wondering last night who do we people look up to. When it comes to choose our Youth Icons .The concept of icons in India has gone a massive change. People have changed their look and thoughts towards this.

We heard the chanting of “THOU ART and shalt remain, my icon”, by millions of hearts worldwide, as the lifeless body of the man who shook the world was laid to rest in early 1948. He was without any any PR agency aiding him. He become an icon solely on the basis of his values and principles, many of which are still followed. Mahatma Gandhi was an ‘icon’ indeed. Years later came PT Usha (sports - race) and Kapil Dev (sports - cricketer). Today, however we have film celebrities, cricketers and from other walks too.

There is no doubt left that the definition of the word 'icon' has undergone a drastic change over the years. Today Indian youth is more cautious when it comes to choose their icon. It is their qualities , their hard work , their contribution and a lot many more things that are considered like they have inspired our society, our people, our living , what we have gained or learned through their lives.

Having more interest in sports , iam very much interested in this years Videocon India Youth Icon Awards 2009.Wizcraft a renowned event company has announced India Youth Icon Award to felicitate the young people for their contribution to the Indian glory.
